Vance, Jr., to create a Youth Opportunity Hub on the Lower East Side.  The announcement was made at a press conference held at The Door, another grant recipient .The money is from the DA’s Criminal Justice Investment Initiative, which redistributes criminal forfeiture funds obtained through settlements with international banks. David Garza, Executive Director of Henry Street, said at the press conference, “We are grateful to District Attorney Vance and his team. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LILLIAN WALD!

Though the birthday girl was not in attendance, we were happy to celebrate the 150th birthday of our founder, Lillian Wald. On March 10, members of our team gathered in our historic headquarter's dining room—a space Lillian knew well!—to celebrate Lillian. Executive Director David Garza led staff in singing "Happy Birthday" and everyone enjoyed strawberry shortcake. Staff from our Community Consultation Center even brought a gift–a digital thermometer! It certainly would have made nursing in the late 1800s easier!
