It was a hot-pink-carpet-affair at Metrograph on May 9 as Henry Street Settlement hosted the second annual CINEMAtheque Party. At the event, Henry Street unveiled an exciting collaborative art installation, pictured here, by special guest artist KAWS and Henry Street youth.

KAWS also generously contributed three pieces to an auction hosted by Paddle8 and benefiting Henry Street. The auction is live here to bidders worldwide through May 23. Additional auction items are also up for bid on Charitybuzz

Extraordinary $6.24 Million Gift to Henry Street

Henry Street Settlement received $6.24 million — the largest single estate gift to the Settlement in its history — from the estate of legal secretary Sylvia Bloom-Margolies. The gift will be used to create The Bloom-Margolies Scholarship Fund in Memory of Sylvia Bloom Margolies, Raymond Margolies and Ruth Bloom to support our Expanded Horizons College Success Program. In the since the news broke in a front page New York Times story it has garnered worldwide attention and been covered by 50 media outlets across the globe.

 
Hidden History Events at HSS

Making Hidden Histories Public This June

Hidden Histories of the Lower East Side: Sephardic Jewish Food Traditions– a free public program with food tastings -- will be held on June 4th, at the Settlement. RSVP required. The Hidden Immigrant Histories series is part of the Settlement’s 125th birthday celebration. The series opened in April with the history of the Lower East Side's South Asian communities. Camp Enrollment Open Now!

Henry Street offers two summer day camps, Camp Henry and Abrons Arts Camp. Both camps are great ways for children ages five to 13 to spend their summer, and registration is open now!

Saturdays at 301 Henry Street - free classes

Spend your Saturdays with us!

The Settlement now offers three free Saturday classes – adult fitness, youth dance and business basics – at 301 Henry Street. Classes are open to all, free and tons of fun! Just stop by any (or all) of the programs. Youth Dance class runs from 10-11 a.m. in the gym, followed by Adult Fitness from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Growth and Goals Academy is held from 1-2:30 p.m. in the first floor classroom.
