Ready, set...
Henry Street Settlement Logo

Henry Street Settlement opens doors of opportunity for Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers through social services, arts, and health care programs.

Ready, Set... Action Center!

Like many human service organizations, Henry Street is concerned about new government proposals that would negatively impact our work and those we serve. This concern is nothing new. Since its founding in 1893, Henry Street has been a dedicated advocate for our community and has fought for social justice, civil rights, and access to social services in the local, state, and national arenas.

Our newly launched Action Center is our latest response to growing dismay about proposals coming out of Washington, D.C. The Center offers resources to help members of our community advocate for themselves, their families and their neighbors.. To view and act now CLICK HERE »

COMMUNITY FUNDING THE COMMUNITY

Henry Street’s Community Advisory Board (CAB) has awarded its first grants – the result of a unique participatory budgeting process. The CAB was responsible for allocating $5,000 of the Settlement’s general operating support dollars to small projects across the agency. To determine the best use of these CAB-advised funds, CAB members reviewed proposals, observed program activities and met with agency leadership and program staff. Projects awarded grants are: Shelter Employment Vocational Training, a Health & Wellness Community Day, a new peer mentorship model in our Expanded Horizons College Success Program, a "Selfie Wall of Fame" to highlight successful clients at the Workforce Development Center, and a School Based Mental Health/Parent Center Back-to-School Event.
